Background/Interesting Fact
I have an interest in using and restoring old telescopes. Two telescopes which I have restored and use for variable star work are Thomas Wilbur Stone's 4.5" f/15 refractor which has a flint forward Brashear objective, and a 6" f/9 Custom Deluxe Criterion Dynascope circa 1959. The refractor was mounted in Stone's Richmond, Virginia home observatory called the Hanes Avenue Station. He used it in the 1950's to make observations-some of which were sent to the AAVSO to then Recorder Mr. Campbell.
