American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO)

Hi. I wonder what the correct bibliographic entry is for a new star studied via TESS data from 2021 to 2023, in VizieR it is in Variability properties of TIC sources with KELT (Oelkers+, 2018).
I don't know exactly what you mean. Those are two different things.
The Oelkers et al. paper has a list of TIC objects observed by KELT and if you are going to analyze the star using TESS data, the proper reference to give will depend on what data product you are using, QLP or TESS-SPOC.
The two references are listed in the VSX FAQ page
Hi Sebastian. My subject is TIC 7899711 , and I have searched MAST and found TESS-SPOC data files. Photometry is from 2020 and 2022, and the bibliography is of an earlier date, and this made me perplexed as to the correctness of the citation.
the reference to a survey is usually the first paper on the survey results or a paper on the project description.
It is not that you are referencing results included in those papers (= previous) but you are using that survey data to come to your own results (= future).

Can you give more details on what you want to do?
Cheers,

OK thanks, I understand.
