For about the last 16 hours the AAVSO site has been responding quite slowly
eg: try "https://www.aavso.org/webobs/search" and see how long it takes to bring up the search screen.

The site has been running very slow, charts take up to 10 minutes to load!

Yep-- the site is still VERY slow.

Difficulty loading charts and accessing the whole site. I reset my router and modem several times today thinking that was the problem until I found this thread.

Here too. I reported it over 24 hours ago, but didn't get any response. I'm waiting over two minutes now for a page of data to load from web-obs.
If there's an issue, that's OK - but please let us have some information.

Thank you for reporting this issue. After digging through the logs, I found that the slowness was caused by a single user (a researcher) with a severely misconfigured script. I've banned the corresponding IP address from AAVSO's servers and reported the behavior to the IT department at researcher's host university. Our services should be functioning like normal again.
I apologize that this problem was not caught earlier.
