I've been experimenting with a Raspberry Pi with my son for a home electronics project.
The Pi is an approximately $35, credit card sized computer that runs Linux (among other things) from an SD card. You just need a keyboard, mouse and TV or monitor and you have a cheap computer. I currently have it plugged into my network with no keybard/mouse/monitor and just connect to it via VNC.
Along the way I discovered the way that this little Linux computer runs Java 7. I wondered how it well it would run VStar. Here's a VNC window showing VStar having loaded an eta Aql dataset from the AID, run a DCDFT Standard Scan, created a 3 harmonic model and a phase plot.
So, the answer is that it runs VStar pretty well.

Well done!
I think rpi should be able to run vphot into a web browser. I will give a try.
I would say so, yes. I've only used Midori (browser) not Chromium or similar.
Other desktop Java tools like Zapper, SunEntry, SeqPlot should also run on the Pi I would say, but I have not tried.

We own three of these and I never thought to try it out there. Will definately give it a go.
