Hi,
I received an email inviting me to try out the new forum platform. Unfortunately, when I click on the link in the email and enter a forum, only the latest post or pinned post is shown. How can I proceed further?
Yes, its all legitimate! I think we can all agree that the AAVSO's forums have been a valuable space to communicate and exchange ideas, but the format is outdated, they lack features found on most dedicated forum platforms, and they are costly for us to maintain. Therefore as part of our 2024 Annual Campaign we asked members to donate funds to help us replace the forum software with a modern solution. Thanks to the generous support from people like you, we're just days away from rolling out the new forums.
We'll be making a formal announcement on our blog in a few days. That post will address many of the questions I suspect you and the rest of the community have.
I wish to acknowledge publicly Aru Bhoop and Brian Kloppenborg for their patient and invaluable assistance in enabling me to login to the new forum.
There was a glitch that prevented login, apparently only for me. Over a few days, emails, phone calls and finally Zoom meetings were necessary before the problem was solved.
... and apparently there is already some posts on forums.aavso.org
is it genuine?
