Hello Everyone,

The AAVSO is partnering with the SuperNova Early Warning System (SNEWS) team to create a new campaign centered around supernova progenitors. The goal is to keep track of bright stars that have the potential to go supernova reasonably soon so that we have a record of the star leading up to such a monumental event. This project is open to all observing types and has a large target list so everyone should be able to find a way to contribute. More information on this project can be found here. Please use this forum to ask any specific questions you may have.

SNEWS Spreadsheet

I was looking at the SNEWS spreadsheet today, and it's not clear to me how many, if any, target stars still need dedicated observers. I may be interested in picking up some more targets if any remain. So, how many/which ones still need observers?

Lead time before images start appearing in VPhot

Hi

I put my name against a couple of targets in the spreadsheet a month or so back but haven't had any notifications or seen anything in VPhot yet.

Is there a way to check to see when those targets have been added to AAVSONet?

Thanks,

Guy (WGUA)

Is it needed to note projname in the FITS header of own images, got without AAVSOnet?

AAVSO Webinars | The AAVSO-SNEWS Campaign

The AAVSO and the SuperNova Early Warning System team (SNEWS) are collaborating to monitor bright potential supernova progenitors. The targets are broadly distributed across the sky and all types of observing may be used, so this exciting campaign offers any interested observer the opportunity to contribute.

Join us tomorrow for a webinar looking at the campaign's progress to date. The session will feature talks from Professor Alec Habig, University of Minnesota, and Dr. Bert Pablo, AAVSO's Staff Astronomer.
