Greetings. Firstly, I admit this issue is probably my fault since I don't have too much experience with AAVSO forums. But I'm trying to find the discussion forum (where I'd post, "I observed on Dec x and saw such and such that is interesting.") The first link "Campaigns and..." seems to just keep me here in the alert notice page. The second link "Young Stellar..." sends me to Page not Found. I'd greatly appreciate any help in getting to the forum where people are talking about the progress of the campaign. Thank you, Neil.
I would begin here: https://www.aavso.org/forum Look under the "Variable Stars" heading for the different types of variables, and post in the appropriate one.
That said, I don't see a lot of those kinds of posts there unless something is unuual. Like you noticed the beginnings of an outburst that wasn't expected. But you're free to do so!
Another good place for such posts "off site" would be the Cloudy Nights Scientific Amateur Astronomy forum: https://www.cloudynights.com/forum/88-scientific-amateur-astronomy/
Clear Skies,
Peter
Thank you! I've participated in campaigns before where there was a lively forum on here as results came in. I suppose this alert is encouraging some photometry uploads, but not really any big conversations. Thanks for the reply,
Neil
Hi Neil,
First of all, thank you for reporting the broken link from the Alert Notice. It has been fixed!
Second, if you want to report an observation of a target in this campaign, the thread for the campaign in the Campaigns & Observation Reports forum (this one) is the correct place. To make a post there, go to the first post in the thread and click on "Add new comment". However, please wait until the next day (and after you have submitted your observation to the AID) to post a magnitude so it doesn't influence other observers as they make their observation(s). Conversation about the campaign will be on this thread or the YSO thread that has been fixed.
If you want to post an observation report about other target(s), go to the Forums page (https://www.aavso.org/forum), then scroll down to Variable Star Observing and click on Campaigns & Observation Reports (https://www.aavso.org/forum/5009). If you don't find a thread that fits the star(s) you are reporting on, click on the "Add new forum topic" and make your post. I recommend you select Full HTML instead of the default Basic HTML.
Good observing,
Elizabeth
