Hi All,

I'm about to build a PC which will be dedicated to running a Paramount MX+ mount and cameras for photometry, and I'm probably going to install Windows 10 as the operating system. Has anyone encountered any problems with Win10 that I should look out for?

Automatic updates apparently can't be disabled so potentially an update could abort an observing run. Has anyone experienced that or have a solution? Cheers,

Updates

I have been using Windows 10 for some months now and I had no problem... until today.
A major update was installed. I now have Windows 10 v1511 and I am having problems with some Intel image drivers. I guess this will be solved in future updates (today the system rebooted several times while updating to v1511 and I now have another update to install).
But don't worry about updates happening with no warning. You have a window that pops up letting you choose when you want to reboot the system and you can configure that. The system won't reboot on its own.

Cheers,
Sebastian

Windows 10 updates

I also have used Windows 10 for months and been pleased.  However, recent updates have clogged my system for 1-2 hours during the intallation.  When completed, everything ran well...

So my suggestion is to start the installation at night when you go to bed and leave the computer on all night.  I've done that three times in the past two months, and found the system up and running very well the next morning.
