I decided to enter this campaign as something totally new to me - an SU UMa-type dwarf nova. Being in the southern hemisphere gives me an advantage. Last night I was able to observe VW Hyi from around 30 degrees elevation till daylight stopped obs before a meridian flip. I hope as VW Hyi rises earlier and earlier, I will be able to get a longer lightcurve.
If I can manage to upload a graph of the lightcurve, I would be interested in feedback. The minima appear to be very messy. Is this a characteristic of such stars, or should I be attempting to increase exposure length?
A second question concerns transformed data. I have not been able to establish my transformation coeefificents as different southern Landolt fields give different figures. Nevertheless, I am using the ensemble photometry regime in the software MPO Canopus and observe through a V filter. Canopus uses the V values of my comparison stars to work out an absolute V value. The author of the software describes this as a "hybrid" method. Is this method acceptable for this campaign?
