American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO)

I am new to VSX and have been trying to input the correct URL into VStar. I tried to find the answer in the blogs (VSX and VStar) but was unsuccessful. Could someone steer me in the right direction.
I am trying to get my info from the AAVSO database. My current instructor told me not to post in my current course and address my questions here. I am also trying to find the URL to use in VStar to access VSX. My apologies for such beginners questions.
I am trying to find Eps Bootes with VStar but I keep getting a message saying that there is no info. I am trying to familiarize myself with the software. URL question was regarding p.12 and 13 in the manual.
Ah, I see. So you're trying to load eps Boo data via "Request URL" in the New Star from File... dialog box, presumably with Source set to "Download and Simple"?
As entering "eps Boo" on https://www.aavso.org/data-download shows, there's no data for it and VSX also shows no record, as someone else mentioned. It's not a variable star, just a non-eclipsing binary.
If you just want to try the URL feature, try another star, like eps Aur or eta Car. When the data is available, you can right-click the link in the browser and select Copy and paste it in the Request URL text box.
As someone also mentioned, downloading such an AAVSO file and loading the file or using New Star from AID is simpler.
As the manual mentions, there are some plugins, such as for ASAS, that are a more natural fit for using the URL.
I never told you to post in the Vstar Forum. I told you to not to create forum post inside of a CHOICE course as we have specific particular forum posts regarding your problem. Your query regarding loading star from URL may be discussed at our CHOICE course "Week One: Section II: Part A: Loading of Data" forum. You could easily post there & rest of the participants can have knowledge about it. But you have not done so, you complained against me & also posting this false allegations in VSTAR forum also. That's not acceptable.
Hi Francois
Can you tell us more about what object you are looking at in VSX and what data source (ASAS, ASAS-SN, NSVS, ...) you want to retrieve data from?
David

Not sure why you…
Francois,
Not sure why you are trying to enter a URL into VStar. You should be able to use "File > New Star from AAVSO Database"
