For those who want to get their hands dirty with spectrscopy of a neat system, the recurrent nova U Sco has just been reported at V < 9.2 (which is about 6 mags brighter than a few days ago), signalling what is likely the start of a new outbuest.  The velocities are high enough for the ejecta that even low resultion, about 1000, would be very significant.  Calibrated spectra are always better but series of high cadence (hours, not minutes) with good signal-to-noise would be valuable.  Slit spectra with some information about the seeing will also be valuable.  It's a chance to do real time, big time.

Hi Steve.

I took a spectra with my LISA last night R~1500. It has very wide Ha emission at over 4000km/sec! I have added it to the database but it is waiting being checked.
