Hello everyone,

For those of you who were not already aware, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 was my last day on staff at AAVSO Headquarters.

The chance to serve the AAVSO and its community has been one of the best and most rewarding experiences I've ever had.  I'm grateful to have been able to serve both the AAVSO and the scientific community for so long.  It was an honor and a privilege to have worked here to support the work that you all do.

More than the science it enables, the AAVSO is also its people, and I've never been a part of a community like this.  Thank you all so, so much for your friendship and enthusiasm over the past 13 years, and for more kindnesses than I can count by so many of you.  It's hard to put into words, but the AAVSO means a great deal to me, and it always will.

Clear skies, & best wishes to all,

Matthew

Thank you!

Thank you Matt, for your never ending enthusiasm, your true interest in the people of the AAVSO community and the work they are dealing with, and my personnal sincere "thank you" for your help and support when I had some kind of scientific problem/question I couldn't handle myself. I hope you will find the same happiness and satisfaction in your future work! So I wish you all the best and ... clear skies!

El dedo de destino...

Matt, your departure is a loss for AAVSO and all of us who are involved with VSO. I fondly remember your kindness and timely responses in our interactions. Employment is truly the "fickle finger of fate" and I wish you success and happiness in your future endeavors.

Please continue to observe and submit personal observations, wherever you may end up going :)

Take care my friend,

Mike

Thank you for your service, Matthew!

I am one of the newest members of AAVSO and the 2nd so from Pakistan and I can honestly say the feeling I get everytime I submit data to AAVSO, that is good quality data taken from a country where only 2 people are providing data for the worldwide pool, myself included, I owe the motivation and drive to keep doing good for the astronomy community, of which I am a part, to people like you who work tirelessly to make sure these data sets matter and the tradition of variable star astronomt continues in the amateur community which has taken a flight of its own!
Thank you again for your efforts!
