AAVSO Alert Notice 673 announces an observing campaign (multicolor photometry and spectroscopy) on the dwarf nova SS Cyg. Please see the notice for details and observing instructions.
Many thanks, and Good observing,
Elizabeth O. Waagen, AAVSO HQ
Hello--What observation cadence would be ideal for this campaign?
Gary
Hello Gary,
TESS will be observing at a 30-min cadence, so anything shorter than thaty would be great. If you have a filter wheel, it would be great to take I light curves as well, as TESS observes in one band only.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes - clear skies,
Stella.
Dr. Juan Echevarria (Instituto de Astronomia, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico) has also requested coverage of SS Cyg; his campaign will run over the next two weeks. At this time, the observing procedures requested in Alert Notice 673 are also appropriate for Dr. Echevarria's campaign.
Many thanks, and Good observing,
Elizabeth

SS Cyg is in outburst! Please keep observing (photometry and spectra) as we watch the event unveiling!
Best wishes - clear skies,
Stella.
Please see attached file for a brief report of some recent observations...

Nice work Kevin! I still need to process 3-5 LhiresIII and Alpy spectra of this neat object as well as submit photometry......good work!

Data uploaded ca. an hour ago show SS Cyg brightening well out of baseline in both V & I.
EDIT 20191029: SS Cyg continues its week-long brightening out of baseline, last night V=9.55, I=9.35.
