Although not actually a compulsory field, spectral type is a useful additional information, specially in type-related variables. But that information is not always available, and inferring it by their V and B values could be deceptive, as we usually don't know peculiarties as reddening, etc.

Sometimes, in Vizier, it can be found information expliciting the spectral type of the star, but it appears that not all sources have the same level of confidence.

When confronted with this issue... what sources could we use with confidence, and what ones shall we avoid to use?

If we use one source, should we list it in the "other names" section?, and what format do we use?

Thanks
