Supernova 2002ao in UGC 9299 (Virgo)

The image of SN2002ao was taken by Doug West in Mulvane, KS with a 0.2 m SCT, an SBIG ST-8 CCD camera and a clear filter. The image is a combination of two 50 second exposures taken on 27 January 2002 11:44 UT. The arrow points to the supernova within the UGC 9299 galaxy. At the time the image was taken, the SN had an approximate visual magnitude of 15. |
