I'm cross-posting Keith Geary's announcement in the Time Sensitive Alerts forum that the recurrent nova RS Oph is in outburst:
Place of observation: Dunbratton County Waterford , Ireland
Date and UT of observation: 08 August 2021 2220UT
Object Confirmed Via: Binoculars/DSLR
Estimated Magnitude: 5.0
Observer Location & latitude: 52 16 35N
Eddy Muyllaert also sent notice to the cvnet-outburst email list:
OPHRS 20210808.9201 5.1 OUTBURST!!!
Several confirmation observations have also been published to cvnet and vsnet.
The last outburst occurred in 2006 and reached visual magnitude 4.8.
BVRI and visual photometry and spectroscopic observations of this very bright target are highly desirable. It was very considerate of this star to go into outburst while it's very well placed for observation.
