We're cleaning out some old file cabinets at my university
and came across an Optec SSP-5 photometer. It has a 10-position
filter slide labelled UBVR(clear)ubvy(dark). I don't know if
the filters are actually in the slide, but I suspect they are.

No power supply or other electronics -- just the instrument
itself. It does have a 1.5-inch-outside-diameter tube
for connecting to a telescope.

I can supply more details upon request.

I'd be happy to give it away, but it might be awkward
to ship it, so it's probably easiest for me to work with
people near Rochester, NY. But that's just a preference;
better that someone use it than no one.

Please respond directly via E-mail to mwrsps@rit.edu
as well as to this forum.

update: This is "type R4457"

I opened the device enough to look inside.
There's a label which states
that this is a type R4457,
which I believe indicates that it has a Hamamatsu
R4457 PMT. That device has a response which
falls off pretty rapidly to the red of 700 nm -- see

The Optec SSP-5 photometer has a new home

I've found a good home for it. Thanks to all who inquired, and good luck with your observational programs!
