Hi all
I've spoken with several people in AAVSO on and off for awhile about whether it would make sense to run a VStar plug-in development course via CHOICE.
In continuing to work towards another release over the last 18 months or so, I'm frequently reminded of how much there is to do. Some of that is development of the core code itself and some is plug-in development.
A number of people other than me have written plug-ins (as well as helping with core code). Having more people comfortable with doing so would only be a good thing.
Having some coding experience would be important but not necessarily with Java.
Awhile back I created a simple tool that makes getting started writing plug-ins a bit easier. That could be used in conjunction with the course.
Also possibly in scope could be the different ways of writing code for VStar. Not plug-in related but knowing when a script could be used instead of the need for a new plug-in could be useful.
I realise this would be a bit of a different CHOICE course, but we thought it would be good to see what interest there was.
I could develop and run the first one (with input from others) and then others could take it over as happened for How to use VStar.
Thoughts welcome.
