Bands in optical data in the AAVSO International Database (AID)
Each variable star observation in the AID contains a field that specifies the band (filter) used in making the observation.
For data downloaded from the AID using the data-download tool, the band is given as an abbreviation (e.g., visual is Vis, Johnson V is V).
In special cases, the band (e.g. visual) may be represented as a number (e.g., 0). The following numbers represents the following bands:
= Visual (Vis.)
= Unknown (N/A)
= Johnson V (V)
= Johnson B (B)
= Cousins R (R)
= Cousins I (I)
= Orange (Orange)
= Johnson U (U)
= Unfiltered with V Zeropoint (CV)
= Unfiltered with Red Zeropoint (CR)
= Johnson R (RJ)
= Johnson I (IJ)
= blue (Blue-Vis.)
= green = (Green-Vis.)
= red (Red-Vis.)
= yellow (Yellow-Vis.)
= K NIR 2.2micron (K)
= H NIR 1.6micron (H)
= J NIR 1.2micron (J)
= Sloan z (SZ)
= Stromgren u (STU)
= Stromgren v (STV)
= Stromgren b (STB)
= Stromgren y (STY)
= Stromgren Hbw (H-beta = wide) (STHBW)
= Stromgren Hbn (H-beta = narrow) (STHBN)
= Sloan u (SU)
= Sloan g (SG)
= Sloan r (SR)
= Sloan i (SI)
= Tri-Color Blue (TB)
= Tri-Color Green (TG)

= Optec Wing B (MB)
= Optec Wing C (MI)
