It is with great sadness to announce (slightly delayed), the passing of Dr. Jay Pasachoff, on Nov 20, 2022. He was a prolific researcher, author and educator, who also bridged the amateur and professional world, with a 50 year career as Professor of Astronomy at Williams College, Massachusetts. Dr. Pasachoff held the world's #1 spot for number of total eclipses of the sun observed - 36 totals, 20 partials and 19 annulars, the epitome of "eclipse chasing" indeed. Even though he wasn't much associated with variable star observing, he was a long time member of the AAVSO. Hopefully, we all can celebrate his life and honor him during the next great American eclipse in 2024!
