The Research Fund
This fund caters to scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and students. The recipient(s) may visit and perform research at AAVSO Headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The recipient(s) may work with the ever-growing treasure-trove of variable star observations in the AAVSO International Database (AID), with the goal of turning these observations into scientific results disseminated among both the professional and amateur communities through professional journals and informal outlets. The duration of this fellowship can be from one to several months.
Fellows are invitation-only.
Janet A. Mattei was dedicated to the union of professional and amateur astronomy worldwide, and thus continuing her work of professional-amateur collaboration through the Janet A. Mattei Research Fellowship Fund is a fitting way to ensure her valuable work continues despite her passing.
