I am brand new to VPHOT, and so I need some guidance. I uploaded a test image which was rejected because there was a claimed error in the DATE-OBS field. The entry in the fits header is '17/11/2020' . It was imported by VPHOT as just: 17. In the comment field to the right, was the balance of the date: 11/2020' . In other words, VPHOT split apart the date entry at the first "/". (I didn't create the fits header, IRIS did. This file began as a Canon raw file; I used IRIS to decode and calibrate, and split out the color channels in the image, and I then used ASTAP to add the WCS info.)
I tried this a couple of times and it occurred the same way each time. What should I do? Thanks
The current correct standard DATE-OBS header format is as follows:
KEYWORD: DATE-OBS REFERENCE: FITS Standard STATUS: reserved HDU: any VALUE: string COMMENT: date of the observation DEFINITION: The date of the observation, in the format specified in the FITS Standard. The old date format was 'yy/mm/dd' and may be used only for dates from 1900 through 1999. The new Y2K compliant date format is 'yyyy-mm-dd' or 'yyyy-mm-ddTHH:MM:SS[.sss]'.
Not sure why your software did not use the correct format?
