Background/Interesting Fact
I first started visually observing variable stars in 1982 and concentrated mainly on CV's and RCB's. Between 2012 and 2020 my focus was on poorly observed LPV's. I was the LPV Section Leader between 2016 and 2019. I live under the light polluted skies of Perth, Western Australia however with my 16", 10", 8" and 4" reflectors I find that there are plenty of stars to observe even if the conditions are not ideal. I also conduct BVRI CCD photometry mainly of RCB's and novae using the R-COP telescope at the Perth Observatory. My prime focus since 2021 is conducting a photographic nova patrol and have been lucky enough to discover or co-discover 5 so far since April 2021.
