I tried the default and it did not complete. AG Dra downloaded fine. V0694 Mon downloaded fine but was very slow. I tried SS Cyg from 2457400 to present and it loaded fine, but slow. I think there is so much SS Cyg data that it may take a long time. Seems like its working fine, but does seem slower than normal. I don;t think anyone is in the office on Sunday. I am sure they will look into it tomorrow, first thing. Try a smaller JD range if it suits your needs.
David hit the nail on the head. There was a hidden "control Z" (end of file) character in the comment field of several observations that was causing the problem with SS Cyg and maybe some other stars. This has now been cleaned out of the database so hopefully the problem is gone - at least for now.
Thanks to all for bringing this problem to our attention.

Hi JoDee and Gary
I've tracked this down to an unexpected Unicode character appearing in an observation.
Will keep you posted.

Thanks Sara. Much appreciated. As Sara says: thanks JoDee and Gary and apologies from me.
I've captured the general problem here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/vstar/bugs-and-features/520/
and added a fix for this, as described in the ticket, in case this comes up again.
