I just took a look to determine when SS Cygnus is available for imaging at my location and found that it barely rises in the ENE to 15 degrees by 0100. By Civil dawn here in the Northeast, it’s just approaching 50 degrees - depending on your location. Good photometrics benefit from full astronomical dark and maximized target altitude but neither seems in the cards for those of us above 35-40 degrees. None the less, SS Cyg is an ‘old friend’ so I’ll give her a try around the beginning of Nautical dawn here in the Northeast. 

Be great to hear others’ thoughts and suggestions on optimizing the photmetrics of this target for this cycle…

The outburst has started (UT June 3 2024)

The earliest reports of the outburst have started to appear.  Please monitor the source as much as you can over the next few weeks.  Measurements through multiple passbands will be particularly valuable.

XRISM observations were successful !

Hi all, we succeeded XRISM observations of SS Cyg during the current outburst. So, there is no need for intensive photometry. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
