A huge thank you to Dr. Brad Schaefer! He has put together a terrific list of recommendations for specific ways we can contribute to the study of recurrent novae. He includes a lot of the background info on what we think is going on with these systems too. You can find it as a link near the top of the Cataclysmic Variables Section page. There are six different opportunities he discusses.
#1. ECLIPSE TIMINGS OF RN IN QUIESCENCE.
#2. DISCOVER NEW RN ERUPTIONS.
#3. MONITOR BRIGHTNESS IN QUIESCENCE.
#4. TIME SERIES PHOTOMETRY THROUGHOUT EACH ERUPTION.
#5. SUPERFLARES ON V2487 OPH.
#6. T CrB WILL ERUPT ~2023.

I'll second Walt's comments on this information on the cataclysmic variable section page and also thank Dr. Schaefer for providing a valuable resource to answer "what should I observe (and how)?" Even if you aren't lucky enough to discover an eruption (and it's quite a thrill!) there's great scientific value to each of the items on this list.
