Yes, this object has been confirmed as a nova. We have not issued an AAVSO Alert Notice yet as we prefer to coordinate with the Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams (CBAT) and their issuing of a CBET or IAU Circular. Since the existence of this object has been public knowledge since its discovery I decided to wait for the CBAT publication to send out the Alert Notice. You may create charts via VSP and submit observations via WebObs using the name PNV J06393874+0553520.
Good observing, Elizabeth Waagen
It has been confirmed in CBET 3202 so it is now N Mon 2012 in VSX.
Cheers,
Sebastian
AAVSO Alert Notice 467 on Nova Mon 2012 has been issued and may be accessed via the home page or directly at www.aavso.org/aavso-alert-notice-467. We are having technical difficulties with the Alert Notice email distribution utility so I have not sent out the email version of the Alert Notice yet. I will send it out as soon as things are fixed at this end. In the meantime, please read the webpage version. Many thanks, and apologies for any inconvenience. Good observing, Elizabeth Waagen
