Dr. Dennis Conti (AAVSO) provides the following information:

"Exoplanet researchers Dr. Veselin Kostov and his collaborators at NASA Goddard, and Prof. Bill Welsh and Dr. Jerome Orosz at San Diego State University, have issued a request for immediate help in observing the primary eclipse of a new candidate TESS circumbinary system – namely one where an exoplanet is orbiting an eclipsing binary.

The target location is (J2000):
RA 08 34 38.81
DEC +31 33 14.7
and its catalog designation is TYC 2483-160-1.

"The primary eclipse’s midpoint is expected to take place on 2020-05-07 02:38 to 3:07 (UT), namely during THIS EVENING, May 6, and should be observable in Central and Eastern North America (weather permitting). The eclipse is fairly deep (approx. 45%), so it should be observable with small-medium aperture telescopes. The expected duration of the eclipse is approx. 6.7 hours. Because of the long duration of the eclipse and its timing uncertainty, an observation window as long as possible, centered on the above expected midpoint, is requested.

"Any standard filter is fine as long as...which one was used [is noted] (actually getting a variety of observations with different filters would be nice). The cadence should be such that it maximizes SNR of the target star but does not saturate it during the observation window.

"Observers should choose as comparison stars those that are in the FOV of the target and are as close in magnitude and color as possible to the target star. TYC 2483-160-1 is 10.141 V at maximum.

"Please submit the resulting light curve of the target and light curves of the comparison stars to Jerome Orosz at <jorosz@sdsu.edu>. Contact Dennis Conti at <dennis@astrodennis.com> for any help in conducting or analyzing your observation."

A finder chart of TYC 2483-160-1 may be created using the AAVSO Variable Star Plotter (VSP). No comparison star magnitudes will be seen.

This AAVSO Alert Notice was prepared by Elizabeth O. Waagen primarily using material supplied by Dr. Dennis Conti.
