Mac OS X: file dialog not showing files in some directories

I'd like to understand a bug that's been reported by two people already:

I cannot reproduce this bug on my Mac OS X Catalina laptop.

If you are seeing any kind of unexpected behaviour when trying to open a file in VStar on a Mac, can you please reply with what you see?
