American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO)

GL Cep looked bright tonight. It is normally around 11.5-12.0 but seems to be considerably brighter. My latest estimate is 11.1. GL Cep is in the huge IC1396 starforming region near mu Cep.
GL Cep turned out to be an SRB variable with several periods, the two main ones 75.2 and 55.1 d.
There are a lot of survey data covering the last 16 years.
Hi Mike,
GL Cep turned out to be an SRB variable with several periods, the two main ones 75.2 and 55.1 d.
There are a lot of survey data covering the last 16 years.
Its colors also confirm its red giant nature.
It has been revised in VSX:

Best wishes,

Thanks for that Sebastian. One less star to look at!
