hello
i have been using IRIS for several years to process my DSLR images and have been some issues since upgrading to windows 10, command box won't appear. anywho, i'm thinking of moving away from IRIS to AIPwin so i was wondering if there is available a 'quick start' guide for using AIPwin for photometry? i took the DSLR course several years ago and they had one for IRIS at the time but i don't recall if there was one for AIPwin. so if anybody has a pdf or could direct me to where i could find this that would save me a lot of time changing over my work flow from IRIS to AIPwin. Many thanks!
Hi Ron,
I wrote a tutorial for AIP4Win a few years ago for the DSLR Photometry course. It is part of the tutorials document available from the Supplimentary Materials section of this AAVSO webpage.
However a newer version of the AIP4Win tutorial is attached to this post. I'll update the document on the webpage when I get the chance. Cheers,
Mark
thanks Mark! i was in your class back then, lol, i should have paid attention.
hey mark
the tutorial you wrote works great and has me up and running aip4win. one issue that happens once in awhile is that i get this during the execution phase of finding the magnitudes, "error #7 occurred, out of memory". i was wondering if you have any insights or experiences with this error messageand what may be causing it?
Hi Ron,
I don't recall seeing that error, but it's been quite a while since I used AIP4Win other than for the DSLR courses. Were you processing a large number of images or have lots of images open at once? Cheers,
Mark
I would email the author of AIP4win, Richard Berry at
