April 14, 2012: The possible nova in Scutum (PNV J18562170-0852300) described in AAVSO Special Notice #275 (http://www.aavso.org/aavso-special-notice-275) has been shown not to be real.
Reports from the night of 2012 April 12/13 from Robert Fidrich (Hungary), Enrique de Miguel (Spain), and Martin Mobberley (UK), who observed the field, and from Tom Krajci (NM, USA), who obtained images with two AAVSOnet telescopes and evaluated the images, all indicate that there is no new bright object at the location reported by Sakurai.
