AAVSO Special Notice #160
Request for observations of Z Cam
May 26, 2009
Further to AAVSO Alert Notice 390 (2008 November 13), Dr. Elmar Koerding (CEA Saclay & Universite Paris Diderot) and collaborators request optical photometry and enhanced monitoring of the UGZ dwarf nova Z Cam. An optical outburst of this source commenced around JD 2454977.0 (2009 May 25.5), and the star will be observed at radio wavelengths using the Very Large Array in New Mexico. Both visual magnitude estimates and time-series photometry are encouraged. CCD observers are encouraged to perform V-band time series. If you have multiple filters and can transform your data, multiple filters are encouraged, otherwise single-filter observations are sufficient. Since the source is relatively bright (m(vis) ~ 11.0), please obtain good good signal-to-noise in CCD observations. For more information on this campaign please see AAVSO Alert Notice 390. Z Cam is located at the following (J2000) coordinates: RA: 08 25 13.20 , Dec: +73 06 39.0 Charts for Z Cam may be plotted using AAVSO VSP: http://www.aavso.org/observing/charts/vsp/index.html?pickname=Z%20Cam Please submit all data promptly to the AAVSO with the name "Z CAM". This AAVSO Special Notice was prepared by M.
