AAVSO Young Stellar Object (YSO) Section leader Michael Poxon (Great Plumstead, Norfolk, UK) requests coverage of the YSO V347 Aur beginning immediately.
He writes: "The T Tauri object V347 Aur is apparently having a major outburst. AAVSO observer John Pickett recorded a rise to 12.485 TG on 2021 Nov. 04.26806 UT from from its minimum of 15.445 TG on Oct. 27.28056 UT.
"The period [quoted in VSX] of just under a year may be a relic of the time when the star was thought to be a Mira. It is situated in a dark nebula and a faint 'cometary' arc is visible to one side. Observations in a wide variety of bands are encouraged." V347 Aur has a photographic range of 13.1 - 16.0:.
"A view of V347 Aur from 2MASS is below. The nebula is also visible on DSS colour plates in Aladin."
Coordinates (2000): RA 04 56 57.04 Dec. +51 30 51.5 (from VSX entry for V347 Aur)
Charts: Finder charts with comparison stars for V347 Aur may be created using the AAVSO Variable Star Plotter (VSP).
Submit observations: Please submit observations to the AAVSO International Database using the name V347 AUR.
