Protecting dark skies has been a concern of our community for decades, and is an active subject of discussion and concern. One of the ways to protect our skies (and our health!) is the use of appropriate LEDs for street and residence lights. At the recent American Astronomical Society meeting, representatives from United States Observatories led a workshop with other dark sky advocates showcasing outcomes of “before” and “after” examples of use of such LED lights.
