Registration is now open for the CHOICE course on DSLR photometry, which begins June 6.

This course utilizes the new DSLR photometry manual as its guide. This manual is a basic introduction and guide to using a DSLR camera to make variable star observations. The target audience is first-time beginner to intermediate level DSLR observers, although advanced observers may find the content useful as well.

Greetings Michael...

Signed up for the class a good while back.  Looking forward to this, but not too sure how this will go.  I will use what I have and try to make do.  Working with RAW files is new to me and unfamiliar territory.  I have a Nikon D3200 with the two standard zoom lenses that come with the package.  I will order the rings and such to adapt the camera to the various scopes and should have those in a week or so.  That will give me the use of the 4" f8 refractor, the 8" f6.3 SCT, and a 4" f13 Mak.  Just let me know where to start and I hope to be ready.  Waiting to hear from you.  Phil Evans

Where do we go from here?

Hi Micheal,

Note I read said the course stared June 13th, but I guess I am a week behind already.

Are we to read all the documentation then try out our camera. I will be using a Canon DS6041 EOS Reble- yes its old, but its all we have right now.

I thought there might be a time we all chat for come together to do topics.

thanks in advance

DSLR Photometry course

Hi Kim,

Fortunately, because of website problems, the start of the course was delayed a week.  It started yesterday.   If you look on the main forum page there should be a members only forum section and in that section there should be the DSLR photometry forum for the course.   All activity related to the course should be there.
