This may be a problem on my end, but the charts are not labeling variables or comps. I checked this against some charts that were correctly labeled yesterday, so I know that the charts I called up have comps. Anyone else having this problem today?
Additional information: When Ifirst call up the default chart the variable and comps are, in fact, plotted. It is when you re-plot (in my case reversing N and E and FOV = 18') that the comps disappear.
I have not heard any other reports of problems with VSP. What star were you trying to plot?
If you can attach screenshots showing the VSP form and the chart with no comps, it might be helpful in troubleshooting any problems.
Here is an example of VV Ser in Word so you can resize it as needed. BTW, you cannot upload a docx. Strange.
ps I thought 113 was on the 18' chart, my mistake.
This is medium strange. That the second chart actually labels the target star is interesting.
That you can get a good chart by requesting the target VV Ser and specifying the scale and magnitude you want means it ain't broke. But there are some mysteries in the re-plot code. Any django programmers out there want to help us figure this out?
I can see from your screenshot of the second chart (the one with no comp stars) that it says "AAVSO Standard Chart" in the upper right-hand corner. This indicates to me that you must have selected "Standard Field" under the "Would you like a special chart?" section of the VSP request form (near the bottom). If this is the case, it would not surprise me that there are no comp stars, because there are only a few "Standard (Landolt) fields" loaded into VSP and none are in this field.
As a reminder to all, you should not use this option unless you specifically want to get one of the "Standard Clusters" which are generally only used for the purpose of computing your Transformation coefficients.
To solve your problem, try clicking "None" under "Would you like a special chart?" and see what happens.
Hi! I chose the "None" option and still my chart has no labels.
I'm trying to generate a chart for visual observing for Beta Lyrae. So far I have been using the 10 Star Tutorial chart but sometimes I need more comp stars since not all comp stars are visible some nights.
I also chose the 'e' scale.
Thanks for your help,
VSX indicates there are lots of comps available
Chart TypeField SizeV Range# Stars
A900.0'4.6 - 9.0121
B180.0'5.2 - 10.924
C120.0'5.2 - 12.018
D60.0'7.0 - 13.67
This is opening the field to 200'.
Switching to Bino comps shows only one, a 7.7
If you need more for visual, you can request more from the sequence team:

Yep, that solved the problem, Sara. I don't remember ever paying attention to that option before, now I know. :)
