I was sorry to hear of the death of Nobel Laureate Charles Townes, but pleased that the AAVSO noted this on its home page. I had the pleasure of working with him, briefly, on the board of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, and he visited Toronto at least twice. More to the point: he and his colleagues were regular users of AAVSO data, for their research on red giants and supergiants. We don't have many Nobel Laureates using our data!
