Just seen AE Aqr the brightest I have ever seen it, estimated 10.6, from 11.3 about 40 mins before. I know this star undergoes very fast variations! I try and catch it at least 3 times a night between obs of (say) 4 or 5 other stars; but is there any general advice on how to observe this unique object? Is there any point in having it as a 'regular' programme star or is it best to observe it rather as one observes flare stars - i.e., as part of a special observational operation?
