March 8, 2010: Further to Alert Notice 417, the AAVSO requests intensive monitoring observations of the cataclysmic variable GW Librae beginning immediately (2010 March 9.0 UT; JD 2455264.5) and continuing through 2010 March 12.5 (2455268.0). These observations are in support of the Hubble Space Telescope Cosmic Origins Spectrograph observations of GW Lib planned for 2010 March 11 UT. Space Telescope ground controllers will need to know that GW Lib is fainter than V=15 in order to proceed with the planned observations. Observers are asked to observe GW Lib during the next 48 hours and report their observations promptly to the AAVSO using WebObs if at all possible. Please contact Dr. Matthew Templeton at email@example.com to report your observations if it is not possible for you to use WebObs, or if you have not been assigned an AAVSO observer code. We request that intensive observations continue until at least 2010 March 12.5 UT before returning to a normal schedule of observations of this star.
GW Lib is located at the following (J2000) coordinates:
RA: 15 19 55.45 , Dec: -25 00 25.30
Charts for GW Lib may be plotted using AAVSO VSP (http://www.aavso.org/vsp).
Please report all observations of GW Lib to the AAVSO using the name "GW LIB".
This AAVSO Special Notice was prepared by Matthew Templeton.
