The AAVSO will be holding a week-long "CCD School" from July 30 through August 3, 2012. The school will take place at Tufts University, located a couple of miles from AAVSO HQ. The school is designed for those who have some experience with a CCD system, and who want to learn how to take professional-quality data. The classes will cover calibration of the equipment, observing guidelines, photometric and image processing techniques, transformation of data, statistics and basic data-mining concepts. Projects will be assigned using AAVSOnet data. The principle instructor will be Arne Henden; we may have guest instructors for specific topics. Visit the URL below for more information.

Also, I will give an introductory walk through/demo on VPhot at the SAS/AAVSO Spring Meeting in May. We plan to record the presentation and place it online. The goal of the demonstration is to walk the audience through the basics of VPhot so they can 1. see what it can do and 2. be able to hit the ground running when they return home. If you are new to VPhot or just interested in what it can do, then this is for you. Visit the URL below for more information.
